National Seminar on Wet Waste Management

Organized by IIP Foundation in association with Gandhi Smriti, Ministry of Culture, Government of India under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Sri. Narendra Modi.

Hon'ble Minister Sh. Suresh Prabhu and Veteran Classical Dancer Padam Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh inspired commitment among citizens to be devoted Swachhta Sewaks.

An exceptionally inspiring Saturday morning, witnessed a united citizenry, gathered to fight for their environment. The National Seminar on Wet Waste Management, organised by the NGO IIP Foundation in association with Gandhi Smriti, Ministry of Culture, Government of India under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Sh. Narendra Modi, on 16th September. The Swachhta ki Mashaal burnt brightly outside, giving a warm welcome to all the guests and panelists. The guests were also greeted with a Swachhta Cloth bag filled with tokens of remembrance.

The seminar hall was packed with over 200 citizens eager to learn about how best to do their bit to save the environment. The seminar was commenced by Ms. Swati Chandrashekhar through her impactful recital of VANDE MATRAM, which was praised and lauded by everyone present. It ignited our cultural traditions and united everyone present with a sense of patriotism. None other than Brand Ambasador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Government of India 'Padam Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh', famous Indian classical dancer and nominated Navratan of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, spoke at length on the issue and advised for a change in mindset as the first step to achieve real change. Director of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti Sh.Dipankar Shreegyan spoke on behalf of the institution and explained to the audience about Bapu Gandhi's philosophy on Swachhta and Government of India's initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The event was also graced by Hon'ble Minister of Industry and Commerce Sri. Suresh Prabhu whose commitment to the cause inspired and motivated each and every one in the room. He said that "This is not Waste but Wealth, how to make use of it is for us to think". With strong leaders such as him, we are sure to power through our problems.

Eminent panelists shared their views on the issue, hurdles faced and solutions adopted by them in handling waste management. Mr Shantanu Gupta, author of bestselling book ‘The Monk who became Chief Minister’ was the moderator for the panel discussions.

The first discussion was on the topic ‘This is Not My Waste’. Panelists Mr.Azaz, Gandhian and Envoirnmentalist, Smt.Nikhat Tyagi and Himadrish Suwan , Director General of India Youth Foundation ; discussed the need for greater accountability and responsibility for waste generated by everyone.

The Second panel was on the topic The Waste Is Too Wet! Panelists Shri. Vaigyanik Atul, Dr.Anshu Arora, Smt.Upma Gupta and Col.HS Walia; discussed the various facets of waste and steps to be taken for effective and efficient waste management.

Mr. Rajesh Goyal, the founder of the project Garbage to Garden of IIP Foundation, gave an eye opening presentation on the importance in waste segregation and composting. Guests shared their views on the issue and pledged to make a viable change and to honour the wishes of Mahatma Gandhi, leading India to a cleaner future.Certificates of appreciation were also presented to individuals who have worked relentlessly in the field of waste management by IIP Foundation. The list of Awardees include Sri.Manoj Khandpal, Sri. Vimlendu Jha, Smt. Uttara Radha Krishan Sri. Tem Sutula Imsong ,Sri. Himadrish Suwan and Smt. Monica Khanna Gulati
